New Delhi: Anand Movie, directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee (Hrishikesh Mukherjee), is a favorite classic of Hindi cinema. The film tells the story of Anand’s heart touching Anand, an seriously sick person played by Rajesh Khanna. His vivacity and love for life affects all the people around him. Despite his illness, Anand inspires his doctor Bhaskar, which has been played by Amitabh Bachchan. The film beautifully introduces the subjects of friendship, love and the imperative of death.
In an interview of the 1990 edition of the movie magazine, Amitabh Bachchan shared his views about working with Rajesh Khanna. Amitabh said that the invitation by Rishikesh Mukherjee to work with Khanna in Anand was like a dream come true. Referring to Kaka i.e. Rajesh Khanna’s immense popularity, Big B said that he became popular due to working with him to a great extent. Amitabh said, ‘When Rishi da asked me to work with Rajesh Khanna in Anand, it was like a dream for me to come to me and ask me what he looks like?’ So I became very important, thank you for that. I have always been the greatest honor for Kaka.
At the same time, Rajesh Khanna had remembered that when he saw salt haram in a trial screening in Liberty Cinema, he knew that his time was over at the top. He remembered, ‘When I saw salt haram in a trial in Liberty Cinema, I knew that my time was over. I told Rishida, ‘This is yesterday’s superstar.’ When Amitabh Bachchan was at the top, no other star was also around him. You were from number 1 to 10, next number 11. Before that, only Rajesh Khanna was.
Before Rajesh Khanna got the role, director Rishikesh Mukherjee was eyeing Kishore Kumar and Dharmendra for Anand. In fact, the filmmaker also shared the story with Dharmendra during a flight from Chennai to Mumbai. But, due to luck, Mukherjee decided to take Rajesh Khanna. Anand became a popular film due to her emotional depth, memorable dialogues such as ‘Zindagi should be big, not long’ and Salil Chaudhary’s classic music.
