He came into demand only after a few minutes after birth. The actor narrated the story of his birth during a TV show. He told that when the mother saw him, he had tears in his eyes, but the nurse looked at him and asked- ‘Mrs. Kher, are you your first child? I have no children, should I adopt your child?

Acting fever was from school
Born in a family of Kashmiri Pandits in Shimla, Anupam Kher’s childhood was spent in extreme poverty. Actually, amidst the riots, Anupam Kher’s parents settled from Kashmir to Shimla. Father Pushkar Nath Kher used to work as a clerk in the Forest Department, whose salary was just 90 rupees at that time. There was only one room house and 14 people lived together in that house. When Anupam grew up, he was admitted to school. For the first time in the cultural program during schooling, he encountered the stage. Just after this, the fever of acting became such that it did not land till date.

Was not good in studies, father took out fear
Anupam Kher, in a conversation with Shubhankar Mishra, had told that he was not good in studies and never had more than 30% numbers in class. He told how his father always wiped out the fear of losing that mind. The actor narrated an anecdote. He told that once the result was to be signed. I always tried to signed them when my father goes to office in a hurry. So that I can avoid questions. Once I signed the result from him, but then he forgot any key of the office and came back. He asked me, have you come at number 59 in your class? I said-yes, After hearing this, Papa told me- how many children are there? I said -60. I thought he would scold. But he said- Look, one thing always comes to the bust, he always has tension that it has to come. But the one who comes 59th can come at number 48 or 35. Doing one thing to come to number 48 next time. He told how to always be happy in life.

100 rupees stolen for audition from temple
After completing his schooling from school, Anupam Kher enrolled at the Government College, Sanjoli for graduation from Economics. He used to be a part of plays during college days. During college days, Anupam applied to theater Kota at Chandigarh University. He was graduating that he was called for audition at Chandigarh University. But there was no money. Did not even dare to ask for money from his father. He narrated this anecdote in an interview to Parliament TV. He told that he went to the temple built in the house. 108 rupees deposited there. From there, he raised 100 rupees and left 8 rupees in the temple. He had told that he had gone from home saying that he is going on a picnic and will come home by evening. When he returned home, he saw that there was a gathering of policemen in the house.

When Papa asked-you said on the day of the day
He told that Papa was very angry. He asked me- where did you go on the day of theft? I got nervous and I said- I went to Chandigarh to give interviews. So the mother asked- Where did you come from? As soon as Anupam said- I stole the temple, the mother gave a strong slap without saying anything. When the father also moved towards him, the actor started apologizing. The father said in a loud voice- quiet. Your selection is done. In this way, on 27 July 1974, Anupam Kher left Shimla and came to Chandigarh and joined the Department of theater. After a one -year diploma, he also did diploma from National School of Drama for 3 years.

Hair flying in 19 years, camel urine to remove baldness
Anupam used to call Kher as ‘Bittu’ in the house. It also happened with ‘Bittu’, which happened to his father and uncle. He was just 19 years old when his hair started falling. The falling hair was a matter of concern for Anupam, who reached Mumbai to become a hero. He used many herbs to save hair. Sometimes he used to keep rituals for 4-4 days, sometimes he adopted a recipe. In an interview, he told that one day someone told him that the hair comes back by applying a camel urine. In such a situation, Anupam reached Juhu Beach with a plastic bottle, collected urine in the bottle. He kept urination in the head for several days, but it did not get any benefit. After this, Anupam gave up hope of growing hair again and made a place in films along with baldness. He told that his mother had trouble with his baldness. But Kiran started loving her look more.

It is now sad to not become a father
Anupam Kher first married Madhumalati Kapoor in 1979. But this marriage ended in a year. After this, he married Kiran Kher second. The biggest sorrow of Anupam Kher’s life is that he could never become a father in real life. They did not feel this before. But they feel like this for the last-7-8 years. In a conversation with Shubhankar Mishra, he said that it is not that I am not happy with the work of Alexander (son of Kiran Kher). I did a lot of work from 50-55.
