The case of Gold Smuggling of Kannada films actress Ranya Rao has been in the headlines continuously. Everyone is surprised by the way a living actress is accused of smuggling gold from Dubai. A period of political rhetoric has also started in Karnataka regarding this issue. However, in the meantime, the BJP MLA and the famous Basangauda Patil Yatanal, for his impeccable statements, said something about Ranya Rao, which caused a ruckus.
Yatanal is a BJP MLA from Bijapur city in Karnataka. He claimed that he also knows the names of the ministers involved in this case. He said that strict action should be taken against those who are guilty in this case. However, while saying all this, he made objectionable remarks about Ranya Rao. According to NDTV report, he said, “He had to sleep on his whole body, wherever there is holes in his body, hiding everywhere and smuggled.”
Ranya Rao was arrested two weeks ago with 14 kg of gold at Bangalore Airport, which he hid in his clothes. The initial investigation also indicated the involvement of the airport staff. Questioning the negligence of the custom officials, Yatanal said that strict action should be taken against them.
Along with this, he pointed to the actress’s stepfather Ramchandra Rao, saying, “Will anyone be saved because he is a relative of the central government employee?” Rao is an officer of DGP rank. He denied having any kind of relationship in this matter. However, a few days after the arrest of his step -daughter, he has been sent to a ‘compulsory holiday’.
This statement of Yatanal is being strongly condemned and it is being described as abusive and anti -women comments. Opposition parties and women’s organizations have demanded action against them.
