There came a time in Vikram Bhatt’s career when many of his films started flopping back-to-back. He made a horror 1920 film in difficult times. But no one had faith in the film. No distributor was ready to buy. This disclosure has been made by Vikram Bhatt himself in an interview.
In an interview on YouTube channel of Bharti Singh and Harsh Limbachia, Vikram Bhatt said, ‘After some hits, many of my films flopped and there is a rule in the industry, if your Friday is spoiled, then the phone stops ringing. People do not pick up the phone. Then I thought what to do. I had a subject of 1920. I thought it should be made. I decided to direct it.

Film made through troubles
He further said, ‘I made a film by going through a lot of troubles. But no one was going to buy it. No one was trusting the film. At that time my lightman also used to say what kind of horror film is this? The girl has climbed up, eating the cat. I said this will work son. Then after the shooting was over, the film was tried 35 times. There was no such studio and such distributor that I have not shown the film. Everyone said that the film is good, but it is a period horror. Everyone was giving different reasons. Then we ourselves released the film. It was a tension day for me.
Audiences liked the film
Vikram Bhatt recalled, ‘I remember when I was in office, my father called me. He asked do you have FM radio? I said no, not in office. Then they asked me to go into your car and turn on the radio chilli. At that time there was a show in which the audience used to give his opinion. If he liked the film, he would call Mirchi and if he did not like it, then tomatoes. When I heard that program, most people said Mirchi. Then the film Critic Ritu Raj called it a masterpiece. After 1920, Mahesh Bhatt’s career came on the track and then he had put a series of hit films.
Earning at the box office was earned
