Rishi Kapoor revealed the relationship with father Raj Kapoor in the autobiography ‘Khullam Khulla’. Shared father’s alcohol addiction and scary experiences. The sage promised himself not to drink alcohol.

In his autobiography ‘Khullam Khulla: Rishi Kapoor Unsensure’, he shared some memories of his childhood, where he said that Raj Kapoor used to come home late in the night in a state of intoxication, which he used to get scared. So much that he used to lurk in the quilt in fear. He used to fear the father’s screaming and to collect him with his mother. Rishi Kapoor wrote:

He (Raj Kapoor) was always busy with work, so he was never around. He used to come late at night and met only then. There was a time when I was small. Even if they had known about their arrival, I would be afraid. But I never described my feeling. He used to shout and grumb out loudly. As soon as he entered the house, I would hide under the blanket. My eyes were open. Used to be a little shivering but it was alert. I used to listen to what he is saying. When he moved towards his room, I would breathe a sigh of relief.

Raj Kapoor got drunk late at night and…
The sage had also revealed that he was afraid that his father would not fight with his mother. He used to think about the father’s mood. The actor had told that all this was going on for a long time. He felt that all this happened due to Raj Kapoor’s intoxication. Then Rishi Kapoor also made a promise to himself. About which he wrote “

I was small then. But was very impressed with these things. So I promised myself that when I grow up, I will never drink alcohol and will not scare my children like this.

Father slapped Rishi Kapoor on this mistake
In an interview to India Today, Rishi Kapoor once told about his father that Raj Kapoor had also slapped him once. Because he was smoking with cigarettes of his makeup man. The father was very angry after seeing this and slapped the son.

Raj Kapoor was Rishi Kapoor’s mentor
Rishi Kapoor learned from his father about films. Raj Kapoor launched the son with great love. Before making his debut with Bobby, Rishi Kapoor starred his father in a supporting role in ‘Mera Naam Joker’ for the first time. Raj Kapoor died at the age of 83 in 1988, while Rishi Kapoor also said goodbye to this world at the age of 67 in 2020.
