The Revenue Intelligence Directorate (DRI) has registered a case under Section 10 of the Custom Act against Rajya Rao, arrested with 14.8 kg of gold. At present, Ranya Rao has been sent to 14 days judicial custody.

According to the Senior Officer of DRI, there is a provision of both fine and jail under Section 10 of Custom Act. Under the provision, the accused may have to pay a fine of up to three times the price of seized gold. Apart from this, under the law, there is also a provision of three years imprisonment to the accused. Considering the matter of extremely seriousness and the quantity of recovered gold, the accused may also be jailed along with fine.

How much jail or fine?
He told that now how much punishment to which accused is completely safe with the court. But, in view of the action taken in the past cases, it can be said that in cases where the quotation of Gold Caesar has been high, the accused have been sent to jail with fine. In such a situation, on the basis of earlier judges, it can be said that Ranya Rao will not be able to escape from this case by just paying a fine.
